Facility Certification Renewal

The certification validity period as a certified facility of the Robot-Assisted Cardiac Surgery Council is 3 years.
For facilities already recognized as certified facilities as of August 2022, the renewal base date is September 1, 2022, with renewal occurring 3 years later. Separate guidance will be provided to facilities undergoing their first renewal in September 2025.

Renewal Certification Requirements

1. At least two board-certified cardiovascular surgeons accredited by The Japanese Board of Cardiovascular Surgery must be employed full-time
2. At least one cardiovascular surgery training facility instructor must be employed full-time
3. At least one certified clinical perfusionist must be employed full-time
4. At least one board-certified cardiovascular anesthesiologist must be employed full-time
5. At least 100 surgeries using cardiopulmonary bypass must be performed annually
6. Track record of conducting emergency roll-out simulation at least once annually (conducted with multiple professionals, and implementation details must be reported)
   It is recommended to create a scenario assuming a situation requiring emergency roll-out in advance with multiple professionals, and conduct the roll-out simulation while confirming the procedures.

7. 100% of robot-assisted cardiac surgeries must be registered in NCD.
8. At least 20 robot-assisted cardiac surgeries (excluding internal thoracic artery dissection) must have been performed during the 3-year implementing facility certification validity period.
